SK Arabians begins instructing our riders in a basic balanced seat position with safety and security being our primary goals. As our students continue to develop as riders they are able to specialize in hunt seat, or western seat. We offer beginning through advanced lessons and have a variety of skill levels at all times. Individuals who have riding experience are evaluated to enable us to best place the rider in our program. In addition to riding skills we believe it is important for our students to learn basic horsemanship. With this in mind, a portion of the lesson time is dedicated to grooming and tack, as well as general horse care.

PRIVATE LESSONS are also available as scheduling permits. Private lessons offer students an opportunity for focused learning with individual one-on-one attention.

SMALL GROUP LESSONS are available to individuals aged eight and over. Group lessons allow the rider to benefit from watching as well as doing and provide a sense of camaraderie. Group lessons are an hour long and offered at various times during the week.

We offer a TINY TOT PROGRAM for students aged five to seven. In this program students receive private lessons which emphasize safety and fun. The individual setting ensures safety for our youngest riders.

Our Horses

The horses are the backbone of our lesson program. We have a wonderful group of school horses. They have been selected for their willing dispositions and gentle nature. Many of these horses are current or former show horses. They are well cared for and well loved. Carrots, though not required, are always appreciated by your four-legged friends as a reward for a job well done!

OUR LESSONS

Following is a general guideline for the levels that we offer. Learning to ride is an ongoing process that requires basic skills as well as timing, balance, flexibility and feel. Riders develop at different levels at their own pace. The skills learned at one level will continue to be honed through each successive level. Completion of a set of lessons at one level does not necessarily promote one to the next level.

 Safety

Cancellation Policy

We are requiring a 3 hour minimum notice for lesson cancellations without getting charged for lessons.  If you cancel within 3 hours of your lesson, you will be charged.  If you cancel more than 3 hours in advance, you will not be charged.  We would like a 24 hour notice if at all possible but we understand that in events of sickness and injury you cannot always give a 24 hour notice.  If there is an emergency that comes up within 3 hours of your lesson that does not allow you to be out there, these will be handled on a case by case basis.  If you do a no call, no show for a lesson, you will be charged.  After 2 no call, no shows for lessons, you are forfeiting your lesson time and someone will take your place.

Once again, my general rules for lessons are:

Winter – As long as the daily high is going to be over 15 degrees, I will be doing lessons.  In events of snow, please call and see if your lesson is still on.  I try very hard to notify you if your lessons are going to be cancelled.

Summer – As long as the heat index is not over 100, I will be doing lessons.  However, if that heat index is not until late afternoon, I do try to move my afternoon lessons to the mornings if at all possible.  If it is raining/thunderstorm, we can still ride inside.  If there is severe weather, we will plan those on case by case basis.  Sometimes we can still have the lessons when the severe weather is around us, and sometimes I cancel for the safety of my families and myself.  Please call me if you have any questions if we are going to do lesson.
